We recently visited the aerospace museum during our astronomy observation camp.

Here is the museum review I’m sharing.

1. Location

It’s about 10 minutes by taxi from Sacheon Bus Terminal, and about 25 minutes by bus or on foot.

2. Interior view

There was a long straight road inside, like an airplane runway.

Around it, there were many airplane and tank models.

There was a place to see inside the airplane, but it was a model, not a real airplane.

The quality seemed so-so.

It seemed like young children would really enjoy it.

Even our teenagers took a commemorative photo each.

3. Sacheon Aerospace Science Museum

It’s the building on the right within the facility.

The exterior made it clear it was a recently constructed building.

There were many things to experience, including learning various knowledge about airplanes, a place to fold and fly paper airplanes, 3D experiences, and Mars exploration games.

It took quite a long time to get around everything.

Still, it wasn’t boring.

There was a souvenir shop and a cafe at the end.

We decided to move on to the next building.

4. Aerospace Museum

There was a building inside that looked quite aged.

It’s the Aerospace Museum, and as the name suggests, it’s more of an exhibition-focused museum than an experience one.

There were various materials about the history of space exploration, Korea’s first astronaut, and more.

However, it felt more like ‘oh, it’s like this?’ rather than being interesting.

I took a quick look around and left.

On the opposite side, there was a museum of the Korean War.

They had guns, records, etc., used during the war.

5. ETC

We took a photo in front of the Sacheon Aero Space sign.

Seeing a big airplane behind, we decided to go in.

Like the museum, it also covered topics on the Korean War.

The atmosphere was a bit heavy, and one child said they were scared.

There was another space next to it that felt like a museum too.

On the first floor, it felt similar to the aerospace science museum.

6. Aerospace Science Museum 1st Floor Cafe

With leftover time, we spent it at the cafe on the first floor after visiting the science museum and museum.

The shape of the chairs was like airplane seats, which was unique.

One of the school teachers bought a kit for a child, and the kids bought souvenirs like fridge magnets.

We chatted and then returned.

7. Review

The science museum was great because it had a lot of interactive activities.

It seems like a good place to visit once or twice with children because there are things for students to enjoy.

However, I wondered if there was really a need for so many models outside.

The size of the airplane and tank models is immense, giving a fresh impression on the first visit, but I felt they might not be as charming on subsequent visits.

Still, it’s a place I’d like to visit at least once with kids.

I hope to visit with my family next time.

Gyeonggi Earth Science Education Research Association Winter Field Trip to Yeoncheon – Reflections
This winter, the Gyeonggi Earth Science Education Research Association ran a self-directed training program in Yeoncheon that combined a geological field trip and astronomical observation. Last year, when they did the self-directed stargazing training at Jaein Falls, my second child suddenly came down with a fever so I couldn’t go, which really stayed with me. This time I was determined to join. The participation fee was 30,000 won. On top of that, it was possible to get school support for the expenses used for the self-directed training...

Student Astronomy Observation Festival (2025) Participation Review
Around July, a notice about the Student Astronomy Observation Festival arrived from the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute. Our club members were already obsessed with collecting KASI merchandise, so we applied without hesitation. Together with another teacher who loves astronomy, a total of 6 students from our school applied. There were quite a few things to handle on the school's side...

Ami Mountain Observatory in Busan National Geopark
I visited Dadaepo with my child, and the sun was scorching that day. As a consolation, we decided to stop by the Ami Mountain Observatory. As the name suggests, it boasts a panoramic view. It was great to see Nakdong River at a glance. Walking down from the 3rd floor to the 1st floor is more comfortable than walking up. Taking the elevator to the 3rd floor directly...
