An acquaintance of mine found something interesting in an official notice.
It was the 1st Seoul Vocational High School Student Robot Competition!
Since it was the very first competition, I was really looking forward to it.
Some people I know were going too, so we decided to visit together.

The venue was the Hananoori Hall at Duksung Women's University.
We had to transfer from the subway to a bus, so it was quite a hassle bringing the kids along.

When we went in through the back gate from the parking lot next to Hananoori Hall, the arena was right there.

There were a total of 8 participating high school teams.
It’s only the first year, but I imagine more students will participate next year.

They said they held practice matches in the morning.
The afternoon was the real competition, so some students were testing their devices.

Next to the arena, each school had its own booth.
Each booth had various items like stickers, snacks, and promotional materials, so it was fun to walk around and look.
It felt like being at an expo or a festival.

The matches involved inserting pipes or placing balls.
I don’t know if it comes across in the photos, but the students’ passion in the arena was no joke.
At the same time, I could also feel how hard the teachers and students had worked.

In foreign videos, I saw them throwing balls and inserting pipes so naturally.
Compared to that, our students still seem to have a long way to go, but this is only the 1st competition!
I really hope the robotics industry will continue to develop in the future.
