Tried Using a Robot Vacuum in the School Classroom

One day while lounging at home, I found an interesting item on Karrot Market.

A good-looking robot vacuum was listed for 60,000 won.

Seeing the robot vacuum, I suddenly thought:

Should I try using a robot vacuum in the school classroom?

Below is our classroom.

Due to the nature of the classroom, there are many obstacles and their positions keep changing, so proper cleaning would require mapping and sensors.

Upon searching for the vacuum on Danawa, I discovered it was equipped with 3D mapping and a radar sensor.

Having wanted to try a robot vacuum in the school classroom for a while, I just went ahead and bought it.

Today, as I write this, it marks the third week since I started cleaning with the robot vacuum.

The benefits of having a robot vacuum are as follows:

• Class dismissal has become much faster.

• The classroom is much cleaner, especially with no visible hair.

• The cleaning schedule has disappeared, so there's no need to argue with the kids about cleaning.

If the 'educational effect' of the classroom cleaning schedule is minimal, then it's a win-win.

However, there are also things to watch out for.

• If there are large trash items, strings, springs, or thumbtacks lying around, the cleaning won't finish properly and the vacuum will stop. Therefore, during class dismissal, guide students to pick up large trash under their desks.

• The robot vacuum's cleaning brush and mop wear out very quickly. Especially, the cleaning brush gets too much hair tangled and needs to be cleaned after each use.

• Instead of the cleaning schedule, you should teach kids 'how to manage the robot vacuum'. (Currently, the homeroom teacher is managing it)

Below is the state of the mop after being used several times in the robot vacuum.

Initially, I thought it would clean well, but after seeing it carry around hair, I detached it immediately.

If you're going to use a robot vacuum, either maintain the mop daily or consider just letting it go.

Let's take a look at the robot vacuum in action.

It approaches eraser debris and dust on the floor...

and swipes it away. It can't do anything about the pencil lead marks on the floor.

Still, I am very satisfied with using it.

If you're considering getting a robot vacuum for the classroom, I highly recommend it.

However, since it needs to be purchased with personal funds, I suggest trying a secondhand purchase to save costs.
