One day, my wife said that the fan was leaning.

Upon checking the bottom, I found that the connector connecting the fan was broken.

What kind of durability is this supposed to have?

I couldn’t stand it either.

So, I started repairing it right away.

1. Disassembling the Xiaomi Fan

Disassembling the fan is quite simple.

Remove all the rubber feet on the bottom and just unscrew it.

It’s a bit intimidating to disassemble, but just boldly pry it open.

I just used a screwdriver, and it opened easily.

The internal structure is simple as shown below.

The fan connector is fixed on the weight side.

Removed the weight and took out the connector.

Just in case, I saved the shape of the connector and the internal battery information.

If the battery goes out later, it seems possible to replace it with the same specification.

2. Repairing with a Plastic Welder

The joint area was not wide, so I decided to repair it with a plastic welder once.

I put plastic weld pins in various places on the connector.

And I sanded down the protruding parts a bit.

And the assembly is the reverse of disassembly.

3. Buying Parts from AliExpress

The weld didn’t last long as above.

Eventually, I bought a part from AliExpress.

The price was around 6,000 won.

It's a 3D printed product, and it looks pretty good.

Compared it to the original part.

Looking from below, it is tightly packed inside for durability.

It seems like it will hold up as well as the original.

Just cut off the old connector to remove it.

Then attached the new connector.

The wire of the connector from AliExpress felt significantly thinner than the original.

But I believe it can handle the allowable current well.

I twisted the two wires, soldered them, and wrapped them several times with shrink tubes.

Before closing the lid, I tested it once, and it worked well.

Time to reassemble.

4. Review

Like the Pocophone, and Xiaomi fan, Chinese products are hard to get serviced but offer the fun of fixing by hand.

Since any part can be purchased cheaply, it seems they last longer than other products.

I hope it continues to work well without breaking down.
