How to Register the SM3 (2009~2012) Remote Key

After losing the car key and getting a new one, I sometimes experienced the key being deactivated.

I'll note the method I found through research below, so I don't forget.

1. Close all the passenger doors. The important thing is to use the front door lock button rather than the button on the door.

2. Insert and remove the key from the key cylinder more than 6 times within 10 seconds and turn the key knob to ON. Then the electromagnetic doors will automatically unlock.

3. Position the car key switch to ACC and use the door lock button to lock the car door.

4. While the key is inserted, press the 'lock' or 'unlock' button on the remote key. Then all the doors will unlock. Registration is now complete.
