1. The Day I Cut Myself with a Knife

It was an incredibly tiring day. When I got home, my mother-in-law and wife were watching the baby.

I decided to quickly make curry for them.

I chopped potatoes, carrots, and mushrooms, but while cutting the onion, I severely cut my middle finger with the knife.

Instinctively, I knew this was a serious cut.

No matter how much pressure I applied, the bleeding wouldn't stop.

It was Tuesday evening at 7 PM, but fortunately, there was an orthopedic clinic open until 8 PM near our home.

I wrapped my finger and went to the clinic.

The doctor examined my finger, turned it over, and said let's try a bandage, then covered it with strips of white paper.

Even while applying the bandage, it didn't stop bleeding, so we had to tie the finger with a rubber band to stop it.

Since it didn't hurt much when moving the finger, I continued using it and even drank alcohol.

When I went to the hospital a week later, the finger hadn't healed at all and was actually infected... ㅜㅜ

The doctor said, This won't do, we need to stitch it.

So we ended up stitching the finger.

I had the stitches removed one week later.

People often cut their middle finger while chopping, and it happened to me too.

From now on, I must keep my middle finger hidden behind the index finger.

Even after removing the stitches, the wound felt tight, so I avoided water for a while.

As time passed, the dead skin started to peel off.

Seeing the skin falling off from both ends of the nail, it was evident that the finger was quite infected.

The cut area was hard and unnatural, almost as if it had a shell over it, but it got better over time.

Underneath the hard skin, new skin was visible.

After taking a bath one day, the callused skin broke apart.

New skin was visible inside. It was bothersome when touching things or holding the baby, so I decided to remove it.

After removing part of the callus, the new skin was clearly visible inside.

Three weeks have passed since the cut, and two weeks since the stitches were removed.

The callus on the finger fell off after bathing without gloves, softened by water.

The skin remains sensitive and hurts if touched directly.

I've used a hydrocolloid bandage to help with skin regeneration and protect the delicate skin from external trauma and water.

The cut area still feels a bit numb and painful when pressed hard.

It seems like it will take about a month for proper healing.

If it's a slight cut, expect about 2 weeks; if it's severe, more than a month is needed.

Especially for frequently used areas like fingertip ends, recovery is slower.

If you cut yourself, it's best to avoid doing anything for a while.

You might end up with an infection like me.
