I had a free cable that came with my guitar purchase, and the sound was intermittently cutting out. Today, it stopped working altogether.

Suspecting a break in the wire, I removed the heat shrink tubing and found a break near the cable terminal, so I decided to repair it.

Upon opening it, I saw two wires. If there are two wires, it's a mono cable, and if there are three, it's a stereo cable.

It seems they gave me a cheap cable.

Let's strip the casing and organize the wires.

Since it's a mono cable, the structure is simple.

When stripping the wire, twist the outer wrapping wire and pull it aside so it looks like there are two wires.

Then just solder it back as it was originally attached to the cable.

The wire in the middle of the cable is connected to the middle terminal, and the outer wire goes to the outside.

Without proper equipment, I clamped it to a leathercraft stab tool and soldered it with a Daiso soldering iron.

Every time I do this, I feel I should buy a proper soldering iron.

The Daiso soldering iron doesn't get hot enough to melt lead-free solder well.

To prevent a potential break, I decided to re-solder the opposite cable as well.

The process is the same as above.

Since it's a very cheap cable, there is no minimum structure to prevent breakage at both cable ends.

I reinforced it once to prevent potential cable breakdown.

I used electrical tape since I didn't have any heat shrink tape at home.

After assembling and testing, it works fine.

I'll probably use it for a while, but it won't last long.

Always buy cables that are domestic,

and over 5,000 won!

Cheap ones are not worth it.
