While I was looking for something worth buying on AliExpress, I came across a video capture device.
Since buying it in Korea or from China is basically the same anyway, I just paid in dollars.
The price was about $6.5.
That’s roughly 9,000 won, so it’s about 40% cheaper than Naver or Coupang.
1. Unboxing
Recently, devices shipped from China have pretty decent unboxing experiences.
They’re not as meticulous as Apple, but the cushioning is solid, so there’s no damage.

2. Usage
I didn’t want to buy a new monitor just to hook up to the Mac mini, so I connected it in the order Mac mini – video capture board – MacBook, then used OBS Studio to initialize it.
As the manual said, once I turned on the external device, it showed up fine on the MacBook as well.

The response was actually a bit slow, but I really liked the fact that I could look inside the Mac mini from the MacBook.
I tried initializing the Mac using a keyboard and mouse that support wireless USB connections.

3. Thoughts
In the past, I would’ve trusted the quality on Naver or Coupang, but now both Coupang and Naver are just full of imported Chinese products.
And it’s such a waste that there are so many commissions skimming off the top for the exact same products.
Consumers now need to get smarter.
I hope people will carefully compare AliExpress with Naver and Coupang, and choose whichever is cheaper.
Whichever you choose, the quality is the same.
