I spent a while trying to find a guitar with a unique sound hole.
It seemed that the individuality provided by a unique sound hole or body made me feel like it reflected my identity, which is why I liked it more.
But now, I have decided not to look for unique guitars anymore.
Let me explain why.
1. The Unique Guitars I've Bought and Their Issues
1) Countess CW-10SA
The first guitar I bought was the Countess CW-10SA.
I liked it because it was small and great for travel, and the sound was decent too.
However, this model also had a chronic issue...
The bridge lifting problem.
Even after getting it reglued once, it lifted again.
So currently, I'm using it as a guitar for rough conditions.
2) LSF Guitar Mushim
I heard there was a craftsman with a private workshop in Ilsan, so I visited.
I got the unique-bodied Mushim guitar with a BTS anti-bloating system for about 700,000 KRW.
However, perhaps due to my home environment, this one also couldn't escape from bloating and collapsing.
Now it buzzes heavily at the 14th fret, and no matter how much moisture I provide, the belly won't rise.
It seems inevitable that such guitars require good maintenance.
3) Mueller Guitar G-230T
One day, I was browsing used items out of curiosity and ended up buying this guitar.
It had fundamental structural issues, making it not worth spending more time typing about it.
2. If You Want a Unique Guitar...
There are reasons why the general shape of guitars was developed.
While sound is a factor, amongst them, the biggest issue is durability.
The guitar in the picture has been used for almost 7 years without major issues in any environment.
Even though it was a top-back solid, its durability was excellent.
In comparison, guitars with sound holes in different places tend to be significantly less durable.
If you are not in an environment where you can properly care for it or the purchase location is far away, I recommend just buying a standard-shaped guitar.
3. Still, Recommendable Unique Guitars
The Crafter Mind T Premium model is quite well-received.
Although it's on the pricey side, you shouldn't have much trouble with the guitar.
Now, instead of obsessing over the sound hole, I'm going to look for my individuality in other aspects.
