Recently, seeing my child getting interested in the guitar, I started thinking that I should teach an instrument a bit earlier.
So I began looking for a guitar that a 4‑year‑old child can use.

For a beginner acoustic guitar, a used one is the way to go rather than brand new.
As long as it’s well maintained, it’s incredibly competitive in terms of price.
After looking into this and that, I bought a HEX HIVE P100 M acoustic guitar on Karrot Market.

1. HEX HIVE P100 M (Hex Hive)
The guitar itself is very small.
It’s a parlor body about half the size of a regular guitar.
The problem is that the spacing and length of the fretboard are not that different from a regular guitar.

Because of the guitar’s length, when I put it in my child’s hands, I’m not sure how the arm is supposed to rest on it, and the hand doesn’t reach the first fret well.
To teach properly, I felt that I needed to buy an even smaller guitar.

2. HEX BB100S (Bumblebee)
When I searched, I found that the Bumblebee is overwhelmingly small, at about 72 cm in length.
It’s even shorter than Segovia’s peanut guitar.
I also scoured Karrot Market for this one and eventually bought it.

I placed the two guitars side by side to compare them.
Bumblebee is on the left, and Hive is on the right.
You can see that the Bumblebee is overwhelmingly smaller.

Not only that, the body thickness itself is much thinner on the Bumblebee.
Considering that children have short arms, the Bumblebee is perfect.

I let my child hold the Bumblebee.
Compared to the Hive, it was much more stable and fit the body much better.
The child seems to like it too, picking it up and trying to play every morning.

I tried having them hold a C chord once, and they copied it, albeit awkwardly.
Once their hands get a bit stronger and they keep practicing, won’t they eventually be able to play at least one children’s song?

3. Review
After haphazardly buying several guitars, this became the moment in my life when I owned the most HEX guitars.
There were many so‑called small guitars, but none could compare to the Bumblebee.
For young children below 3rd grade in elementary school, I honestly think it might be the best guitar.
If you’re looking for a guitar for a young child, I highly recommend that you buy a used Bumblebee without hesitation.
